Our Group:

"JETZT" (NOW) is a Group of freelance artists, individualists who deal with current topics and develop multimedia projects in common.

Our Topic:

"JETZT" creates an upcycling art object with the "plastic fish" made from used PET bottles.
With our sculpture we draw attention to the environmental problem, the global cycle of plastic, micro-plastic and nano-plastic. The cycle is particularly problematic, since all bodies of water are already contaminated with plastic and living beings in rivers, lakes and seas absorb the plastic as "food". These creatures, mostly fish, serve us again as food and thus bring the micro-plastic into our body. Illnesses and allergies are inevitable!

About the Sculpture:

The most diverse bottles are filled with materials from nature. The filling draws attention to the inconspicuous, insignificant, hidden and the viewer recognizes the special features of our object, both large and small.
Through the verbal contrasts applicable to our fish:
Natural material - plastic,
Macroscopy – Microscopy,
Garbage - Recycling,
the object fits into the overall work of art of nature in the castle park and its extensive surroundings.
Thus our fish becomes a symbol of our existence in our environment, to PLA:nature:STIC.

Our Project in Numbers:

The sculpture consists of over 2000 used PET bottles.
The number of bottles corresponds to the average annual consumption of 10 people.
The more than 2000 bottles placed one after the other give a length of almost 700m, e.g. from the location of the fish to the center of Marchegg.
The global annual consumption of plastic bottles would be 14 times the distance from moon to earth.
Unfortunately, the part of the PET bottles that is not properly disposed of contributes to the 10 tons of microplastics in our seas every year.
The plastic bottles take 400 years to decompose, so recycling is the right way to tackle the problem.
We will properly recycle our bottles in the fall ...
